Alex Fusee
I graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a bachelor’s in psychology. Currently, I’m pursuing my master’s in social work through
Liberty University’s online program. I am an intern at Advanced Practice Mental Health and Wellness, where I’m able start my passion for helping people in a hands-on way. My favorite part of this work is interacting with individuals, especially children, which has
been a significant part of my experience. I’ve worked with children ages 0-6, conducting home visits and helping families access resources to support their child’s growth. I believe in the power of cognitive behavioral theory, which focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. If we can foster positive thoughts, we can prevent negative behaviors from taking over.
Outside of work, I live in North Myrtle Beach and enjoy spending time walking, as well as with my family and friends. A fun fact about me is that I was adopted from Russia, which is a significant part of who I am. If I hadn’t pursued social work, I might have gone into the legal field as it consists of helping and interacting with people in the community. One thing I’d like to change about the mental health field is improving accessibility, especially for those who can’t afford or find the help they need. My favorite quote is “Believe you can and you’re halfway there,” and my advice to anyone starting in social work would be to never be afraid to ask for guidance or help along the way.
