Allison D’orazio
Allison D’Orazio brings a unique blend of creative storytelling and clinical expertise to her role as a mental health therapist at Advanced Practice Mental Health and Wellness. With a Bachelor of Arts in Photojournalism from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University, Allison combines her passion for connecting with people and her love of creativity in her therapeutic practice.
Since beginning her clinical work in January 2024, Allison has dedicated herself to treating clients across all age groups, specializing in personalized treatment plans that address each client’s unique needs, wants, and personality. Her approach integrates cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based interventions, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques, while prioritizing trauma-informed care.
What sets Allison apart is her genuine enthusiasm for witnessing client transformation. “My favorite part of being a therapist is when I see my clients transform,” she shares. “I love connecting with every person in the process and seeing this exciting journey to see someone that felt hopeless feeling happy.”
Beyond her clinical work, Allison is an avid traveler who has explored different countries and continents, bringing a global perspective to her practice. She enjoys photography, videography, and writing, and has a passion for sports—having played eight different sports throughout her life, with tennis being her longest commitment. Her creative background and diverse interests inform her belief in encouraging more integrated care models where different aspects of wellness are closely linked.
Allison is currently pursuing additional training in EMDR and IFS to further expand her therapeutic toolkit. Her approach is guided by Eleanor Roosevelt’s wisdom: “The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”
For those entering the mental health field, Allison emphasizes that “authenticity and openness will take you very far in this field”—values she embodies in every client interaction.
